Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate overnight care to geriatric residents, helping them feel safe and respected
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Monitor residents’ condition during the shift and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and thoroughly to support continuity and quality
• Support a calm, comfortable environment by following care plans and safety protocols
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to meet resident needs
• Help with meal assistance and ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition during the shift

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (required)
• Current state credentials or ability to meet local licensure requirements
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care settings preferred
• Comfort working overnight hours and supporting residents with diverse needs
• Ability to pass background checks and any facility-required screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, resident-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe patient transfers
• Basic documentation and observation skills with attention to detail
• Familiarity with infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and the care team
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent situations
