Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cardiology assessments and obtain/interpret 12-lead EKGs to support timely clinical decisions
- Administer medications and emergency treatments (including nitroglycerin and antiarrhythmics) safely and accurately
- Initiate and manage IV access and infusions when needed to support outpatient procedures
- Provide expert telephone triage, follow-up phone calls, and pharmacy refill coordination to keep patients on track
- Document patient encounters clearly and efficiently in EPIC, ensuring excellent continuity of care
- Collect specimens (capillary, urine) and follow up on imaging and lab results to close care loops
- Deliver patient education around anticoagulation, chest pain, arrhythmias, and chronic cardiac conditions
- Step into a high-acuity ambulatory role quickly and learn internal workflows to maintain smooth clinic operations
Qualifications
- Active WA RN license or Compact RN license (pending licenses are not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with strong cardiology background; ambulatory cardiology experience highly preferred
- EPIC charting experience is required — you should be comfortable documenting in the system
- Current BLS certification required
- Comfortable obtaining and interpreting 12-lead EKGs and recognizing arrhythmias
- Skilled in starting IVs, administering intramuscular/subcutaneous/intradermal meds, and managing IV infusions
- Professional, responsive communication skills — candidate must be highly responsive for Teams interview scheduling (confirm within 24 hours)
- Able to commit to the roughly 26-week assignment and coordinate return-to-office (RTO) planning as required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiology assessment and outpatient cardiology workflows
- 12-lead EKG acquisition and arrhythmia interpretation
- Medication administration: intradermal, IM, SC, IV infusions; emergency meds and nitroglycerin
- Anticoagulation therapy basics and monitoring
- Telephone triage, follow-up calls, and pharmacy refill coordination
- Specimen collection (capillary, urine - UA/clean catch) and result follow-up
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and cardiac arrest/CPR proficiency
- Epic electronic charting and chart preparation
- Pulse oximetry, vital signs, and pain assessment
