Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients pre- and post-operatively to implement and adjust skilled nursing care based on physician plans and accepted nursing standards
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, assistance with transfers, and timely response to alarms and call lights
• Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with the care team to update and improve patient outcomes
• Process and execute physician/provider orders accurately, completely and in a timely manner
• Follow up on medication changes and clarify orders to ensure safe patient care
• Document care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support seamless perioperative transitions

Qualifications

• Active Michigan Registered Nurse license (must be active)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience — required
• Pre/Post Op experience — required
• PACU experience — required
• Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Active American Heart Association ACLS (required)
• Epic EMR experience — preferred
• Provide work history, a current skills checklist (within 1 year) pertinent to PACU, and 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last 2 years
• Facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius — please provide permanent address at submission
• All scheduling requests must be made at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring in perioperative and PACU settings
• Medication administration and safe handling of post-anesthesia meds
• Post-anesthesia care (PACU) and ambulatory surgery protocols
• Processing and executing physician/provider orders accurately
• Evaluating and updating treatment plans to improve outcomes
• Comfort with Epic EMR documentation and workflows
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
