Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in radiology with attention to patient comfort and safety
- Operate and maintain sonography equipment while adhering to facility protocols and infection control standards
- Document exam findings accurately and deliver timely, clear images and reports for physician review
- Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and nursing staff to support efficient patient flow and diagnostic accuracy
- Educate patients about procedures and answer questions to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation
- Troubleshoot equipment and escalate maintenance issues to minimize downtime
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound/sonography experience (as stated in the job posting)
- Certification or registry (RDMS/ARDMS or equivalent) preferred or required depending on facility
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start
- Previous radiology department experience and familiarity with standard ultrasound protocols
Education
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong competency with ultrasound equipment, image acquisition, and optimization
- Knowledge of abdominal, obstetric, vascular, or other specialty sonography protocols as applicable
- Ability to work within electronic health record systems and manage imaging documentation
- Excellent patient communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Attention to detail, good clinical judgment, and ability to prioritize tasks in a busy department
