Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients rapidly in a high-acuity emergency department setting
• Initiate and manage emergency interventions and resuscitation efforts when seconds count
• Administer medications and follow advanced protocols while maintaining accurate documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, techs, and support staff — to coordinate timely patient care
• Perform focused neurological assessments using NIHSS for suspected stroke patients
• Complete required competency exams, rhythm interpretation, and skills checklists to ensure readiness
• Maintain infection control and personal health requirements to protect patients and colleagues

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse licensure with verification via Nursys
• Current BLS required
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• NIHSS proficiency for stroke assessment
• DCI/BVP certification as listed by the facility
• Completion of facility onboarding requirements (drug screen, fit test, TB test, immunizations)
• Previous Emergency Department RN experience preferred (no specific years listed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency department triage and acute care management
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and basic/advanced rhythm interpretation
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation skills (NRP, PALS)
• Comfort with competency exams and skills validation processes
• Familiarity with license verification systems (Nursys) and clinical documentation best practices
