Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients rapidly in a high-acuity emergency department setting
- Initiate and manage emergency interventions and resuscitation efforts when seconds count
- Administer medications and follow advanced protocols while maintaining accurate documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, techs, and support staff — to coordinate timely patient care
- Perform focused neurological assessments using NIHSS for suspected stroke patients
- Complete required competency exams, rhythm interpretation, and skills checklists to ensure readiness
- Maintain infection control and personal health requirements to protect patients and colleagues
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse licensure with verification via Nursys
- Current BLS required
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- NIHSS proficiency for stroke assessment
- DCI/BVP certification as listed by the facility
- Completion of facility onboarding requirements (drug screen, fit test, TB test, immunizations)
- Previous Emergency Department RN experience preferred (no specific years listed)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency department triage and acute care management
- Cardiac rhythm recognition and basic/advanced rhythm interpretation
- Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Stroke assessment using NIHSS
- Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation skills (NRP, PALS)
- Comfort with competency exams and skills validation processes
- Familiarity with license verification systems (Nursys) and clinical documentation best practices
