Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to children in crisis
• Conduct thorough mental health assessments and monitor changes in condition
• Lead and participate in team nursing rounds and multidisciplinary treatment meetings
• Coordinate discharge planning with social workers and physicians to ensure safe transitions
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Administer medications and manage secure medication systems using Omnicell
• Support de-escalation and safety interventions while maintaining therapeutic rapport
• Complete required competency testing and maintain certifications to meet facility standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license with Nursys verification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (pediatric experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification (required)
• DCI/BVP certification (required)
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record and Omnicell medication systems
• Successful completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist and Prime Specialty Exam as required by the facility
• Ability to pass standard pre-employment screening: 10-panel drug screen, TB test, fit test, and required immunizations

Education

• Active RN license required (Nursys verification). Nursing diploma/ADN/BSN or equivalent training accepted.

Knowledge & Skills

• Child and adolescent crisis intervention techniques
• Strong assessment, documentation and clinical decision-making skills
• Team nursing and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Discharge planning and care coordination with community resources
• Medication administration protocols and safe handling via Omnicell
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and clinical workflows
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, social workers and behavioral health teams
