Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and ventilator management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
- Perform patient assessments, arterial blood gas sampling, and interpret results to guide therapy
- Initiate and manage airway interventions and advanced respiratory therapies
- Respond quickly and confidently to code situations and respiratory emergencies
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and discharge plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and complete required competency checklists and exams
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and institutional policies including fit testing and immunization requirements
Qualifications
- Valid state Respiratory Therapist license required with License/Certificate Verification
- Current BLS required; PALS, ACLS, and NRP required as listed
- DCI/BVP certification required
- Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist as part of onboarding
- Successful completion of required health screenings including drug screen, TB testing, and immunizations
- Comfort working night shift, every other weekend and every other holiday; flexibility with scheduling is a must
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required; RRT or CRT preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations
- Airway management and oxygen therapy modalities
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases and adjustment of respiratory interventions
- Neonatal resuscitation principles and pediatric respiratory care
- Infection control practices and monitoring (fit testing, PPE use)
- Clear clinical documentation and use of electronic medical records
- Ability to perform under pressure during codes and emergencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and family education
