Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality critical care nursing using assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Monitor patients’ hemodynamic status and communicate changes clearly to the care team
- Perform timely patient assessments and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition
- Deliver patient- and family-centered teaching and support during critical care episodes
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate safe care and treatments
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and adhere to ICU standards of care
- Demonstrate and maintain required competencies and pass Prime specialty/core assessments
- Follow infection control and employee health requirements to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys enrollment/verification required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, DCI/BVP required
- Experience working in ICU/Critical Care settings (critical care skills strongly preferred)
- Comfort with hemodynamic monitoring, patient assessment and direct critical care interventions
- Ability to complete Prime exam/checklist requirements (pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, specialty exams)
- Must meet employee health requirements (drug screen, immunizations, TB testing, fit test, etc.)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and critical care patient assessment
- Rhythm interpretation (ECG) and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Direct patient care and ventilator/ICU equipment familiarity (as applicable to unit)
- Strong communication with physicians, families and interdisciplinary teams
- Patient/family teaching and education skills
- Familiarity with Prime Core Competencies and Prime Skills Checklist
