Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents in crisis
• Lead and participate in team nursing and interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians and social workers
• Collaborate closely with social workers and the care team to develop and implement discharge plans
• Document patient care accurately and timely in EPIC
• Safely manage and access medications using Omnicell systems
• Complete facility-required competency exams, skills checklists, and specialty testing
• Maintain compliance with required immunizations, screenings and license verifications

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure with verification via Nursys (state license in good standing)
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (child/adolescent experience preferred)
• Certifications required: BLS and DCI/BVP
• Experience using EPIC electronic health records and Omnicell medication systems
• Completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist and Prime Specialty Exam as part of onboarding
• Ability to pass required health screenings (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hep B, Tdap, varicella, influenza, and drug screen)
• No IV certification required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Child and adolescent crisis intervention techniques
• Psychiatric nursing assessment and intervention
• Discharge planning processes and coordination with social services
• Team nursing workflows and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Proficient EPIC documentation and charting skills
• Familiarity with Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Strong clinical judgment, de-escalation skills and a calm presence on night shift
