Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care on telemetry and medical-surgical units, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and collaborate with the team on timely interventions
• Administer medications safely and complete required documentation and medication checks
• Float to other med/surg and telemetry units as needed to support patient care and unit staffing
• Complete required competency exams, skills checklists, and unit-specific training
• Participate in patient admissions, discharges, and care coordination to ensure smooth transitions
• Support emergency responses and follow established protocols for critical events
• Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification listed)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Ability to float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units
• Completion of required pre-employment screenings: drug screen, TB testing, fit test, and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Successful completion of facility competency exams and skills checklist

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Medical-surgical nursing assessment and interventions
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Strong clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond quickly in acute situations
• Team collaboration and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
