Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 3 x 12-hour day shifts per week (exact day shift start times vary), includes 2 Saturdays per month. Minimum once-per-week standby 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday), plus one monthly 24-hour standby Sunday 7:00 AM - Monday 7:00 AM and one monthly back-up 24-hour standby. Rotating day and night coverage required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert hemodialysis nursing care to adult patients, ensuring safe and effective dialysis treatments
• Perform thorough assessments and document patient status, response to therapy, and any changes
• Manage dialysis machines and related equipment, following infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across multiple campuses to coordinate patient care
• Respond to standby and emergency situations during assigned on-call periods with calm and clinical competence
• Complete required prime skills checklists, competency exams, and specialty testing to maintain high standards
• Educate patients and families on dialysis care, treatment plans, and infection prevention

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required (Nursys verification will be performed)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Demonstrated competency in hemodialysis and dialysis patient care
• Required pre-employment health compliance: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB test, Varicella, Tdap, and drug screen
• Ability to travel and work across multiple hospital campuses (Denville, Dover, Passaic, Newark) and occasional Kindred LTAC sites
• Comfort with standby/night coverage and 24-hour on-call rotations

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hemodialysis operations and patient management
• Dialysis patient care best practices and infection control
• Rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Prime core competencies, specialty exam preparedness, and skills checklist proficiency
• Experience in LTAC settings and stand-by procedures
• Strong clinical decision-making, documentation, and patient education skills
