Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients using advanced clinical judgment and evidence-based practices
• Administer medications and titrate infusions precisely while maintaining meticulous documentation
• Operate and troubleshoot life-support equipment including ventilators and hemodynamic monitors
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists—to coordinate care plans
• Respond quickly to emergencies and participate in codes and rapid response situations with calm leadership
• Provide compassionate patient- and family-centered education and support during stressful times
• Maintain infection prevention standards and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
• Complete required competency exams and skills checklists to ensure ongoing clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana licensure expected or compact RN if applicable)
• Clinical experience or comfort working in an intensive care unit setting (ICU)
• Required certifications and employer credentials including DCI/BVP as listed
• Ability to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
• Successful completion of required health screenings and immunizations: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, TB testing/PPD, Varicella, Tdap, and a physical/health statement
• Ability to pass a minimum 10-panel drug screen and any applicable fit testing
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfort managing ventilators and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Strong assessment skills for rapidly changing clinical conditions
• Proficient charting and documentation practices (electronic medical records familiarity helpful)
• Medication administration accuracy and infusion pump competence
• Clear communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize in high-acuity environments and mentor less experienced staff
