Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate patient care for adult and geriatric patients in the Cardiovascular Laboratory
- Continuously monitor and record physiologic and hemodynamic data during diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures
- Assess procedure room and equipment readiness and ensure supplies are available for each case
- Communicate effectively and proactively with physicians and the cardiovascular team about patient condition
- Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory management of cath lab equipment
- Perform thorough patient assessments and provide timely interventions as needed
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
- Complete required competency testing, documentation, and verification processes to maintain clinical readiness
Qualifications
- Active state RN license required (must be in good standing)
- Current BLS (AHA) required
- ACLS required upon start and must be maintained during assignment
- DCI/BVP certification as required by the unit
- Minimum one (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area
- Successful completion of drug screen, immunizations, fit test, and license verification (per facility requirements)
- Comfortable with unit-specific competency testing (rhythm interpretation, pharmacology, specialty exams)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong hemodynamic monitoring and cardiac procedural monitoring skills
- Hands-on experience with cardiovascular/cath lab procedures and equipment
- Excellent patient assessment and continuous monitoring capabilities
- Ability to prioritize in fast-paced procedural settings and communicate clearly with physicians
- Inventory and equipment management skills to keep the lab ready for cases
- Knowledge of basic pharmacology and cardiac rhythms (per required competency exams)
