Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography exams using best practices to produce high-quality cardiac images
• Acquire and optimize cardiac ultrasound images and Doppler studies to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment
• Collaborate with cardiology teams and other clinicians to review findings and ensure excellent patient care
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation of procedures, images, and patient information
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and departmental policies to protect patients and staff
• Respond professionally and promptly to on-call requests during nights and weekends
• Participate in competency assessments and department training to continue improving skills

Qualifications

• ARDMS certification (or equivalent) required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Valid license/certification verification as required by facility
• Ability to pass a Prime drug screen (minimum 10-panel), fit test, TB test, and required immunizations
• Comfortable working scheduled daytime hours with on-call rotations for nights and weekends
• Strong patient-focused approach and professional communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or cardiac sonography program preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
• ARDMS credential (registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound techniques
• Skilled in sonography equipment operation, image acquisition, and optimization
• Familiarity with Doppler imaging and cardiac study protocols
• Competence with electronic medical records and timely documentation
• Patient positioning, safety, and compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to respond calmly during urgent and on-call situations
