Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents in a crisis intervention setting
- Collaborate in team nursing and participate actively in team meetings with physicians to develop and adjust care plans
- Coordinate with social workers and discharge planners to ensure safe, timely transitions and discharge plans
- Document assessments, interventions and progress thoroughly in EPIC to support continuity and quality of care
- Manage medication administration workflows using Omnicell and follow unit-specific pharmacy procedures
- Perform crisis assessments, de-escalation techniques, and implement individualized safety plans as needed
- Participate in required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Nursys verification as part of credentialing)
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (acute/behavioral health preferred)
- BLS certification required
- DCI/BVP certification required
- Experience with EPIC documentation and Omnicell medication systems
- Completion of employer-required screenings and health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, TB, MMR, Hep B, Tdap, varicella, fit testing, drug screen)
- Willingness to complete Prime exams and competencies (Pharmacology, Core Competencies, Skills Checklist, Specialty Exam)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment skills in psychiatric/behavioral health for pediatric populations
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Discharge planning and interdisciplinary coordination
- Proficient charting/documentation in EPIC
- Medication administration workflow using Omnicell
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families and clinical teams
- Team nursing experience and ability to lead or contribute in team-based care
