Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures ordered by the provider with skill and compassion
• Conduct pulmonary diagnostic testing and interpret results to inform patient care
• Assess patients across the lifespan and develop individualized care plans
• Implement treatment plans, manage ventilators, and adjust therapy based on patient response
• Document care accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Serve as Lead RCP when assigned, coordinating the team and ensuring quality care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Maintain competence through required competencies, skills checks, and specialty exams

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required or to be obtained within three months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required or to be obtained within 60 days of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate preferred
• Two years of acute care experience preferred
• Ability to pass Prime Core Competencies Exam, Skills Checklist, and Specialty Exam

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred
• Bachelor of Science preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in pulmonary diagnostics and respiratory therapeutic procedures
• Proficient in patient assessment and critical thinking across all age groups
• Experience with ventilator management and arterial blood gas interpretation
• Clear, timely documentation practices and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Infection control, safety practices, and fit-tested respiratory protection
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity environments
