Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting to the emergency department with urgency and confidence
• Stabilize patients with acute and life-threatening conditions using evidence-based emergency nursing techniques
• Perform rapid interventions and administer medications per protocol, including ACLS-driven resuscitation when needed
• Conduct NIHSS and trauma assessments, escalate concerns to physicians and specialty teams promptly
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record while maintaining patient confidentiality
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, techs, and ancillary services to ensure coordinated care
• Participate in unit competency testing such as Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty-specific competency assessments
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up to support optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (License/Certificate Verification required)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications
• NIHSS competency and familiarity with stroke assessment
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity specialty-specific competency testing as required
• Ability to pass required health screenings and immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, influenza vaccine, 10-panel drug screen, fit test
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to work independently during overnight shifts, and effective communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency and trauma nursing principles and rapid assessment skills
• ACLS and PALS protocols, including resuscitation and post-arrest care
• Stroke assessment using NIHSS and timely activation of stroke pathways
• Proficient in medication administration, IV therapy, and advanced life support interventions
• Accurate and efficient clinical documentation and charting
• Teamwork, situational awareness, and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Comfort with competency testing and ongoing skills validation
