Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 3x12 schedule. Day shift 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or Night shift 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; schedule varies per hospital and includes weekend coverage which may exceed every other weekend
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $74 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
- Monitor fetal status continuously using external fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal patterns
- Circulate for cesarean sections and assist the surgical team to ensure safe maternal and fetal outcomes
- Administer and manage critical medications including magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cervical cerclage, and D and C procedures
- Document care accurately and promptly in Epic to support continuity and quality
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatology, and ancillary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Provide clear education and compassionate support to patients and families during high-stress events
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state of California; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required; this is a hard stop
- Travel nursing experience required; no first-time travelers
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred). NCC EFM accepted in place of AWHONN Intermediate
- Proven ability to circulate in the OR for C-section procedures
- Comfort working in a very high-risk unit with 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios
- Ability to work weekends and adhere to RTO restrictions at time of submittal
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - California required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in external fetal heart monitoring and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns
- Skilled in high-risk obstetric care and recognition of pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, multiples, and other complications
- Experience managing magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, and antihypertensive medications
- Strong surgical circulating skills for cesarean sections and related OB procedures
- Comfortable charting in Epic and maintaining precise clinical documentation
- Experience working in large hospital settings and familiarity with MAGNET processes and standards
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and crisis management skills
