Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care including bathing, dressing, and toileting assistance
- Take and record vital signs accurately, reporting changes to the nursing team
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Assist with meal service and document intake as required
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans
- Create a respectful, comfortable environment that honors patients’ dignity and preferences
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification valid in New Mexico
- Active basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable performing hands-on patient care with attention to safety and detail
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements (background check, TB screen, etc.)
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; current CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven ability to perform ADLs (activities of daily living) with compassion and professionalism
- Accurate vital signs measurement and basic clinical observations
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Clear, timely documentation and communication with nursing staff
- Understanding of infection prevention and patient safety principles
- Customer-service mindset for interacting with patients and families
