Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to support patient independence
- Assess functional status and develop individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize care
- Document progress and outcomes accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and home safety
- Recommend and train on adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure safe transitions back to the community
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (required)
- California state licensure or eligibility to obtain state credentials
- BLS/CPR certification required or obtained upon hire
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Preferred: prior experience in post-acute, rehab, or skilled nursing settings
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Graduation from an accredited OTA program and required certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven knowledge of therapeutic techniques for ADLs and mobility
- Strong patient assessment and treatment planning skills
- Competent documentation and outcome tracking in electronic medical records
- Skilled at adapting interventions for geriatric and post-acute populations
- Good problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills
