Shift Type: Rotating day shifts: 12-hour (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM), 10-hour (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM), and 9-hour (9:00 AM - 6:30 PM) options; schedule varies by assignment and includes holiday coverage; overnight call approximately every 1-2 weeks; weekend call approximately every 4-5th weekend

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile instrument trays and supplies to ensure smooth procedures
• Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and passing instruments with precision and confidence
• Perform accurate sponge, sharps and instrument counts to maintain patient safety
• Set up operating rooms for a wide range of surgical procedures, following strict aseptic technique
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout procedures to reduce infection risk
• Coordinate with the surgical team and anesthesia to support efficient case flow
• Complete required documentation and competency checklists in a timely, accurate way
• Participate in on-call rotations, including overnight and weekend coverage, when scheduled

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Active state surgical technologist license or ability to obtain license (License/Certificate Verification required)
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Healthcare clearance items required: drug screen, immunizations and fit test per employer policy
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and previous OR experience preferred

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and instrumentation sets
• Ability to perform accurate counts and follow patient safety procedures
• Comfortable with fast-paced OR environments and crisis resource management
• Clear communication with surgeons, nurses and anesthesia teams
• Proficiency with documentation and competency-based training processes
