Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care and support with activities of daily living
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to maintain patient dignity
• Monitor and record vital signs and patient status, reporting changes promptly
• Accurately document care and observations in the patient record
• Collaborate with nursing staff and facility teams to maintain a safe environment
• Follow infection control policies and facility protocols consistently
• Participate in the 2-3 week orientation and apply facility-specific procedures

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in the state of California required
• Willingness to work night shifts as scheduled: 9:45 PM - 6:15 AM
• Comfortable working in a correctional facility setting at PBSP - Pelican Bay State Prison
• Ability to complete a 2-3 week orientation at the start of the assignment
• Prior CNA experience preferred but enthusiastic new CNAs who meet certification requirements are encouraged to apply

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and active CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADLs, patient hygiene, toileting, and feeding assistance
• Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with clinical staff
• Understanding of infection control and patient safety principles
• Ability to follow facility policies and maintain professional boundaries
