Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition to the nursing team
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents and their families to promote dignity and comfort
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility policies for safety and infection control
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure individualized care plans are followed and updated as needed
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in New Mexico (state registry required)
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
- Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts and providing hands-on resident care
- Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is preferred but new grads with solid training are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a state-approved CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing procedures and resident care principles
- Ability to measure, record, and report vital signs and observations accurately
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
