Roles & Responsibilities
- Plan and evaluate individualized rehabilitation treatment programs for outpatient orthopedic patients
- Administer and adjust therapeutic interventions in coordination with physicians and medical staff
- Document patient progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare discharge summaries
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and proper use of assistive devices
- Maintain and troubleshoot physical therapy equipment to ensure safe, high-quality care
- Collaborate with the Rehab Services Director and interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Lead, mentor, and direct therapy assistants and other qualified staff in delivering care
- Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and safety initiatives to uphold standards
- Contribute to department reporting, data collection, and continuous improvement efforts
- Promote patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (required)
- Active Nebraska PT licensure or valid Physical Therapy - PT Compact licensure
- Designation as a Registered Physical Therapist by the State Board (as required)
- Driver's license and ability to travel locally for patient care when needed
- Ability to safely lift and transfer patients (up to 50 lbs) and perform manual therapy tasks
- Professional motor coordination, stamina, and physical ability to meet job demands
- Experience in physical therapy preferred, especially outpatient orthopedics
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient evaluation and development of rehab treatment plans
- Proficiency with modality and mechanical equipment used in PT
- Strong documentation, charting, and basic billing knowledge
- Infection control practices and quality assurance processes
- Patient education and effective communication with families and medical staff
- Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive equipment
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Ability to direct and mentor therapy assistants and support staff
