Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based postpartum and mother/baby nursing care
• Monitor and assess newborns and postpartum mothers, including blood sugar checks and phototherapy management
• Administer and manage IV antibiotics and other ordered treatments safely
• Support and educate new parents on lactation and newborn care, empowering family-centered outcomes
• Document care accurately and promptly in the EMR (CPN)
• Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care
• Serve as a resource nurse when needed to support unit flow and staff

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 1 year of clinical experience (Mother/Baby experience required)
• NRP and BLS certifications (required)
• Comfortable with postpartum/mother-baby care, phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and IV antibiotic administration
• Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a team-player approach
• Ability to document accurately in EMR (CPN) and work within established patient ratios (e.g., 1:3 couplets)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mother/Baby and postpartum clinical skills and best practices
• Lactation support fundamentals and parent education techniques
• Newborn care procedures including phototherapy and blood sugar checks
• Familiarity with NICU/postpartum crossover care (preferred)
• Proficiency with EMR documentation (CPN)
• Critical thinking, triage, and collaboration in a busy unit
