Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes promptly to the nursing team
- Support patient mobility and transfers safely and comfortably
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing and toileting while preserving patient dignity
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document care accurately in the chart and participate in shift handoffs
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — required
- Current state registration or license to practice as a CNA in New Mexico (or eligible to obtain)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working evening/overnight shifts and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of patient care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Basic vital sign measurement and documentation skills
- Safe patient transfer and mobility techniques
- Infection control practices and proper PPE usage
- Basic charting and familiarity with electronic health records (or willingness to learn)
- Teamwork, observational skills, and the ability to prioritize patient safety
