Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents and patients with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes promptly
- Support safe transfers and position patients to prevent skin breakdown
- Document care thoroughly in the electronic or paper record system
- Work collaboratively with nurses and care teams to follow care plans and improve outcomes
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection prevention practices
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — required
- Valid CNA license in New Mexico preferred or ability to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable with patient lifting and mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous CNA experience in long-term care or acute settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed CNA training program and active certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADLs and resident-centered care
- Ability to take and accurately record vital signs
- Familiarity with patient safety, infection control and standard precautions
- Good documentation and charting practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to comfort patients and families
- Basic understanding of mobility aids and safe transfer techniques
