Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on occupational therapy interventions to support patient function and independence
- Perform patient assessments and contribute to individualized treatment plans
- Deliver meaningful ADL retraining and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Document patient progress accurately and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and rehab team members to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety, and recovery goals
- Ensure adherence to facility policies, safety standards, and infection control practices
- Contribute to a positive, patient-centered rehabilitation environment
Qualifications
- Current COTA (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant) certification
- State licensure/registration as required for practice in California
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Experience in inpatient or outpatient rehab settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited OTA program and national certification as applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL training, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment use
- Proficient in assessment, documentation, and progress note writing
- Knowledge of rehab principles, mobility techniques, and transfer training
- Comfortable collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and family education
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively
