Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate occupational therapy interventions as a COTA to help patients regain independence
- Assess functional abilities and participate in developing individualized treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive strategies to meet patient goals
- Document patient progress thoroughly and timely in the chart
- Collaborate with occupational therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and adaptive equipment
- Maintain equipment, adhere to infection control, and uphold facility policies
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - required
- Eligible for or holding state licensure/registration as required by New Mexico
- Current BLS/CPR preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehabilitation/contract setting and adapting to changing patient needs
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment
- Strong patient assessment and documentation skills
- Ability to develop and implement goal-directed treatment plans
- Excellent communication and teamwork with clinical staff and families
- Time management and organizational skills for a caseload-driven environment
