Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood draws for pediatric and adult patients with compassion and confidence
- Verify patient identity, ensure correct labeling, and maintain precise documentation for all specimens
- Prepare, process, and transport laboratory specimens following established protocols and safety standards
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace using proper infection control procedures
- Communicate effectively with providers, nurses, and lab staff to prioritize tests and support patient care
- Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Provide supportive and calming care to pediatric patients to make their visits easier
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current California State Phlebotomy Technician Certification required
- Current CPR and BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a laboratory or clinical phlebotomy setting
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong venipuncture and capillary collection techniques for both adults and children
- Knowledge of specimen preparation, handling, storage, and transport best practices
- Familiarity with infection control and lab safety procedures
- Accurate patient identification and specimen labeling practices
- Clear communication skills with clinical teams and patients
- Comfort working in an outpatient clinic environment
