Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and report changes to the nurse in charge
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for patients and families
• Support nursing staff with documentation and timely communication of patient needs
• Assist with meal and hygiene needs while preserving patient dignity and comfort

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — required
• Active authorization to practice as a CNA in New Mexico (or ability to obtain quickly)
• Comfortable working night shifts and flexible per diem schedules
• Reliable, patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED and current CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of basic patient care techniques and infection control
• Skillful in taking and documenting vital signs accurately
• Strong observational skills to notice and communicate patient changes
• Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a busy setting
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn facility documentation systems
