Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality acute hemodialysis treatments for adult patients
- Assess and monitor patient condition continuously, including vital signs and EKG interpretation
- Operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment while adhering to infection control standards
- Collaborate with nephrology, critical care, and interdisciplinary teams to create and follow individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, procedures, and post-dialysis care
- Document care accurately and timely in the medical record to support continuity and compliance
- Respond quickly to changes in patient status and escalate concerns appropriately to ensure best outcomes
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Hawaii RN license required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
- Current BLS/HCP and ACLS required
- Minimum two (2) years full-time acute hemodialysis (Acute HD) experience prior to travel assignments
- One (1) or more years telemetry or ICU RN experience prior to Acute HD preferred
- Specialty certifications like CNN or CDN highly desired
- Must pass EKG exam with 80% or greater during orientation
- All licenses and certifications must be valid through the duration of the initial contract
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in acute hemodialysis procedures and machine operation
- Strong EKG interpretation skills
- Telemetry and critical care monitoring experience
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and rapid-decision abilities
- Clear communication and teamwork skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with documentation standards and compliance requirements in acute care
