Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policy
• Perform thorough nursing documentation and maintain accurate medical records
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a correctional facility environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Support patient safety and infection control practices on every shift
• Participate in required training and orientation, including the initial day training period

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; ability to practice in California preferred
• Per Diem RN with recent clinical experience in medical or acute care settings
• Ability to work nights, specifically Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Willingness and availability to complete 3-4 weeks of daytime training if required
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills
• Comfort working in a correctional facility and following security protocols
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred or willing to obtain

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs, and acute care nursing
• Proficient with medication administration and accurate charting
• Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills appropriate for correctional settings
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients during busy night shifts
• Team-oriented mindset and adaptability during training and everyday work
