Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality cardiovascular nursing care for medium- to high-acuity patients before and after surgery
- Monitor cardiac status and detect arrhythmias using telemetry and clinical assessment, escalating changes promptly
- Deliver post-pacemaker and post-operative care with careful assessment and device checks
- Collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, effective care plans
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC charting to ensure continuity and legal compliance
- Educate patients and families on pre- and post-operative expectations, recovery milestones, and discharge planning
- Maintain situational awareness of multiple complex patients and prioritize interventions to ensure safety
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Current ACLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience (required)
- EPIC charting experience (required)
- Comfort and ability to float to Med/Surg when needed (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiovascular nursing expertise including pre-operative and post-operative care
- Arrhythmia recognition and telemetry monitoring
- Post-pacemaker care and device awareness
- Strong critical care assessment and prioritization skills
- Proficient EPIC charting and thorough clinical documentation
- Ability to manage multiple complex patients and collaborate across disciplines
- Familiarity with Med/Surg practices for potential unit float
