Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, patient-family centered emergency nursing care consistent with hospital and state standards
- Rapidly assess and triage patients, prioritizing care in high-acuity situations
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the care team
- Perform accurate, timely clinical documentation and maintain confidentiality
- Respond efficiently to emergency situations and activate appropriate emergency response protocols
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered and monitor patient response
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
- Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive ED culture
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the State of Maine or authorization to practice pending licensure by endorsement
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current BCLS required; ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and act efficiently in emergency situations
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and computer skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing and rapid assessment skills
- Patient-family centered care and effective communication
- Clinical documentation best practices and electronic medical record proficiency
- Proficiency in emergency response protocols and triage
- Comfort with IV therapy, medication administration, and monitoring high-acuity patients
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and maintain confidentiality
