Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonography procedures across OB/GYN, abdominal, breast, vascular and small parts with accuracy and compassion
• Prepare patients and provide clear instructions to ensure comfort, cooperation, and optimal imaging results
• Select and operate ultrasound equipment and transducers to capture high-quality diagnostic images
• Evaluate images for technical quality and document findings for licensed practitioners' review
• Assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety
• Initiate basic life support when necessary and maintain Universal Precautions at all times
• Provide patient education and emotional support throughout procedures to improve patient experience
• Serve as a resource for students and peers through teaching, mentoring, and participation in quality improvement

Qualifications

• OBMI and ARDMS registered Ultrasound Sonographer (required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) experience (required)
• CRASE training preferred; note — CRASE will be required if travel assignment extends beyond 6 months
• Demonstrated ability to perform OB/GYN sonography and diagnostic imaging across multiple specialties
• Strong patient care skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree from a CAHEA-accredited sonography program (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ultrasound imaging techniques and image evaluation/quality assurance
• Patient preparation, education and compassionate bedside manner
• Aseptic technique and interventional procedure assistance
• Equipment operation, transducer selection, and basic troubleshooting
• Teaching and mentoring junior staff or students
• Inventory management and participation in QA/improvement initiatives
