Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients of all ages with acute or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders and develop individualized respiratory care plans
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators to ensure safe, effective respiratory support
- Administer oxygen therapy and aerosolized medications accurately and safely
- Perform pulmonary diagnostic testing and interpret basic results to inform care decisions
- Provide emergency respiratory care, including CPR and advanced airway support as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly and promptly
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use and home care strategies
Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in accordance with Oklahoma state requirements (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Clinical experience with ventilator management, oxygen therapy and aerosol medication administration
- Comfort working nights and in fast-paced acute care settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to perform pulmonary diagnostic testing and deliver emergency respiratory interventions
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field, or equivalent clinical training
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and weaning strategies
- Oxygen therapy and aerosol medication administration
- Pulmonary diagnostic testing and interpretation
- Assessment and treatment of asthma, COPD and pneumonia
- Emergency care skills including CPR and airway management
- Care for patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Infection control practices and clinical documentation
