Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare medications accurately and safely for patients, ensuring doses are correct
- Receive, verify and process prescriptions with attention to detail
- Fill prescriptions and obtain pharmacist approval as required
- Assist patients with paperwork related to prescription filling and answer routine questions
- Support insurance claims processing online and escalate complex issues to the pharmacist
- Stock, price and maintain medication inventory to ensure availability
- Deliver medications to patients or facilities as needed to maintain continuity of care
- Follow infection-control procedures and safety policies to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- National Certification (required) — be ready to submit documentation
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential preferred/recognized
- Epic experience (required) — comfort with electronic health record workflows
- Valid Michigan pharmacy license at time of submission (must have MI license)
- Past retail pharmacy experience (preferred)
- BLS certification (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a patient-first mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication preparation and safe handling practices
- Prescription processing and verification workflows
- Inventory management and medication stocking procedures
- Patient care fundamentals and effective communication
- Familiarity with Epic or similar EHR systems
- Basic insurance/claims processing knowledge and online submission systems
- Infection-control procedures, policies and regulatory compliance
