Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding with dignity and compassion
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe patient transfers and positioning to prevent falls and pressure injuries
- Document care and observations clearly in the patient record
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Provide emotional support and patient-centered communication to residents and families
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification valid in New Mexico
- Active state registry where required and ability to work local assignments only
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and managing typical CNA duties
- Reliable, professional, and able to pass required background and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and standard precautions
- Ability to take and document vital signs and basic clinical observations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and team members
- Capable of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills, attention to detail
- Time management and the ability to prioritize patient needs during busy shifts
