Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to inpatient rehab patients, helping them make measurable functional gains
• Administer medications and therapies safely, including IVs, PICC line management, PEG tube administration and blood administration
• Perform skilled procedures such as tracheostomy care, bladder scans, Foley care and bladder irrigation
• Support nutritional needs with tube feeding management and monitoring
• Collaborate closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiatry and other team members to coordinate individualized care plans
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity of care and compliance
• Monitor patient status, identify changes early, and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about care plans, safety, and strategies to support functional independence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia (VA License) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med/Surg or PCU experience required/preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Rehab experience preferred — experience with inpatient rehab patients is a strong plus
• Competency with IV administration, PICC care, PEG tube administration, and blood administration
• Experience with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems is preferred
• Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a rotating 12-hour schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment skills for post-acute and rehab patients
• Proficiency in IV therapy, PICC/central line awareness and blood administration protocols
• Skilled in tracheostomy care, tube feeding and bladder/catheter management
• Comfortable using Meditech for documentation and medication administration records
• Familiarity with rehab patient goals, mobility support and safety precautions
• Good communication and patient/family education abilities
• Able to prioritize in a dynamic unit with patient ratios typically 5–7:1
