Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies independently in radiology
- Assess, treat, and document speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders in the inpatient rehab setting
- Provide evidence-based dysphagia management and rehab-focused therapy plans
- Document thoroughly in Meditech inpatient systems and complete outpatient paper documentation as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, radiology, and interdisciplinary rehab team to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, strategies, and safe swallowing techniques
- Float to other units or facilities as staffing and census require, maintaining high standards of care
- Participate in orientation and training to maintain unit expectations and EMR workflows
Qualifications
- Active Hawaii professional license in Speech-Language Pathology required by assignment start
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; acute care and SNF/Rehab hospital experience preferred
- Able to perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies independently without radiologist supervision
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with Epic EMR (transition effective Nov 1, 2025) and Meditech documentation a plus
- Comfortable floating between units/facilities and providing occasional outpatient care referrals
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach
