Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies independently in radiology
• Assess, treat, and document speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders in the inpatient rehab setting
• Provide evidence-based dysphagia management and rehab-focused therapy plans
• Document thoroughly in Meditech inpatient systems and complete outpatient paper documentation as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, radiology, and interdisciplinary rehab team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, strategies, and safe swallowing techniques
• Float to other units or facilities as staffing and census require, maintaining high standards of care
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain unit expectations and EMR workflows

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii professional license in Speech-Language Pathology required by assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; acute care and SNF/Rehab hospital experience preferred
• Able to perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies independently without radiologist supervision
• Current BLS certification
• Experience with Epic EMR (transition effective Nov 1, 2025) and Meditech documentation a plus
• Comfortable floating between units/facilities and providing occasional outpatient care referrals
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach
