Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to create individualized OT treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic interventions to help patients regain physical and mental functioning
- Teach activities of daily living (ADLs), vocational and homemaking skills to promote independence
- Select and recommend assistive equipment and design home exercise programs for continuity of care
- Coordinate discharge planning with physicians, nurses, social workers, and caregivers
- Document patient care thoroughly and maintain confidentiality and compliance with policies
- Supervise and develop rehab aides; provide in-service training and mentorship
- Maintain equipment, follow infection-control protocols, and ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapy license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (required)
- Valid NBCOT registration/certification (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Previous occupational therapy experience preferred
- Ability to perform medium-level physical tasks (occasional lifts up to 50 lbs) and stand/walk for long periods
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; experience supervising aides is a plus
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (required to obtain state licensure; BS/MS/OTR or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation methods for physical and mental dysfunctions
- Skills in patient assessment, treatment planning, and outcome evaluation
- Familiarity with ADL training, sensorimotor and therapeutic activity design
- Customer service skills for patient-centered care and education
- Competence in documentation, charting, and discharge planning
- Ability to design and deliver training curriculum for staff development
- Understanding of infection-control practices and safe patient handling
