Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility while preserving dignity
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Help with safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Document care accurately and clearly according to facility policies
- Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, safe, and comfortable environment
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Comfortable working evening shifts (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) on a per-diem basis
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent (High school diploma or GED preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
- Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation skills
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to follow care plans and report observations clearly
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for older adults
- Time management skills for shift-based tasks and documentation
