Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab, focusing on safety and positive outcomes
• Prepare and monitor patients for catheterization procedures and collaborate with the cardiac team
• Use Epic to document care accurately and communicate patient status to the care team
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Participate in unit workflows to support a busy Level I Trauma hospital handling 40–50 cases/day
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care
• Contribute to quality improvement and infection control practices in an acute care setting

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas)
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (acute care/Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system
• Orientation completion (12 hours specified) and willingness to participate in on-site orientation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume Level I Trauma hospital

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN acceptable). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and sterile technique
• Familiarity with acute care workflows and trauma-level care demands
• Competence using Epic for charting and order entry
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Effective teamwork, communication, and ability to prioritize in a busy unit
