Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour) or 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour) DAY; includes one scheduled weeknight call per week (end of shift to 7:00 AM next morning) and three 24-hour weekend call days per month. Primarily day shifts with rotating call responsibilities (overnight/weekend call required).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist independently on cranial procedures and neuro cases, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
• Provide expert support for orthopedic trauma and total joint cases in a Level II trauma environment
• Operate and assist with advanced platforms such as DaVinci, Mako, Stealth, and Scopis when required
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to maintain efficient case flow across 11 OR suites
• Respond to call within 15 minutes and provide reliable coverage during weeknight and weekend call shifts
• Document perioperative care accurately in EPIC and follow facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy)
• Contribute to a culture of safety by speaking up about concerns and supporting team workflows

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred (not required) — must be eligible to submit license when requested
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience with demonstrated orthopedic trauma and total joint experience
• Proven competency in neuro (able to score 3s in neuro and take neuro-trauma call)
• Ability to scrub and perform cranial procedures independently
• Comfortable with call responsibilities, 24-hour weekend coverage, and a fast-paced acute care environment
• Familiarity with EPIC or other perioperative EMR is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Surgical Technologist training or certificate; CST certification preferred
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique, instrument handling, and operating room protocol knowledge
• Clinical expertise in neuro, neuro-trauma, orthopedic trauma, and total joint procedures
• Hands-on experience with robotic and navigation systems (DaVinci, Mako, Stealth, Scopis)
• Able to prioritize under pressure, hustle during high-volume days (avg ~18 cases/day), and communicate effectively with surgeons and anesthesia
• Comfortable charting in EPIC and following facility policies and orientation processes
• Quick call responsiveness (15-minute expectation) and dependable teamwork
