Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, skilled occupational therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising therapist
- Assess residents' functional abilities and develop practical, goal-focused treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve independence in daily living tasks
- Collaborate with nursing and rehab staff to coordinate care and support recovery goals
- Document resident progress thoroughly and communicate updates with the care team and family
- Train and support aides and family members on safe techniques and carryover activities
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
- Ability to start quickly — the role is listed as Quick Start/Open
- Experience in rehabilitation or skilled nursing settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Current BLS or CPR certification preferred (if required by facility, assistance may be available)
Education
- Graduated from an accredited COTA/OTA program (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational occupational therapy principles and rehab approaches
- Skilled in ADL training, adaptive equipment, and mobility strategies
- Comfort collaborating with nursing and multidisciplinary teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
- Patient-centered care with strong observational and problem-solving skills
