Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM start times. Rotating schedule includes every other Saturday, on-call one night per week, and every other Sunday on-call. Day shift focus with scheduled call responsibilities.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality acute dialysis care for ESRD and acute renal failure patients in both the dialysis suite and ICU
• Perform AVF/AVG cannulation and manage CVC access safely and confidently
• Recognize and manage hemodialysis complications and dialysis-related emergencies
• Provide peritoneal dialysis site care, initiate and terminate peritoneal dialysis treatments
• Titrate heparin as ordered and manage set-rate infusions such as amiodarone and dobutamine
• Collaborate with ICU teams, respiratory therapists, and monitor techs to ensure seamless patient care
• Document care accurately in MEDITECH and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Precept and support colleagues as requested to build unit capability
• Float between Bryan and College Station campuses as needed to support patient care coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for submission
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as required by the role)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proven acute care dialysis skills including AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC management
• Comfort with ICU-level patients and ventilator/HiFlow/BiPAP/CPAP support in ICU settings
• Ability to float between Bryan and College Station campuses (about 16 minutes apart)
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and every other Saturday coverage
• Experience with MEDITECH or similar electronic charting systems is a plus

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis principles and emergency management
• Skill in vascular access techniques including AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC care
• Familiarity with titratable and set-rate drips and safe heparin administration
• Telemetry understanding with ability to work with monitor techs and bedside central monitoring
• Competence with ICU equipment such as vents, HiFlow, CPAP and BiPAP when caring for ICU patients
• Strong documentation skills in MEDITECH and clear interdisciplinary communication
• Precepting and mentorship skills to support unit growth
