Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests with accuracy and care to support patient diagnosis and treatment
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instrumentation while following quality control procedures
• Document and report test results clearly and promptly to clinical teams
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care
• Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance practices at all times
• Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement activities, and continuing education

Qualifications

• MLS/MT certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) preferred
• Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain Michigan lab licensure as required
• Prior clinical laboratory experience in hospital or acute care settings preferred
• Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to work day or night schedules
• Willingness to follow lab policies, quality systems, and safety protocols

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred
• Associate degree plus appropriate certification may be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical laboratory techniques across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking
• Quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Specimen handling and proper documentation
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic result reporting
• Understanding of regulatory standards such as CLIA and CAP
