Shift Type: Rotating day shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (one shift) and 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM (two shifts); schedule includes every 3rd weekend and holiday coverage — day shifts only

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and reassess patients promptly on arrival and throughout the ED stay, using triage protocols to prioritize care
- Deliver safe medication administration and IV therapy, including vasoactive drips with vigilant monitoring and titration
- Perform accurate cardiac rhythm identification and respond to arrhythmias and acute changes
- Manage airway care for intubated patients, including suctioning, troubleshooting and weaning
- Interpret arterial blood gases and pulse oximetry to support clinical decision-making
- Implement thrombolytic and anticoagulation protocols and monitor patients closely
- Collect and document forensic evidence per policy and complete mandated reporting when required
- Provide patient and family teaching, coordinate discharge planning, and link patients with community resources
- Document thoroughly and communicate clear handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Serve as a resource and preceptor to colleagues, promoting professional development and best practices
- Proactively identify patient safety risks and participate in error reduction and quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a current Massachusetts nursing license
- AS in Nursing required; BS in Nursing preferred
- ACLS required upon hire OR current BLS with ACLS obtained within 60 days
- AHA PALS to be obtained within 6 months of hire
- TNCC, ENPC and CEN certifications preferred
- 3-5 years of Emergency Department experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability in triage, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV/medication management and critical thinking
- Ability to perform physical demands of the role (lifting, reaching, frequent standing) and work effectively in a fast-paced ED
Education
- AS in Nursing (required)
- BS in Nursing (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing fundamentals: triage, patient assessment and reassessment
- Medication administration and intravenous (IV) therapy expertise
- Cardiac rhythm and arrhythmia recognition and basic ACLS interventions
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and pulse oximetry assessment
- Intubation/airway management and care of the ventilated patient
- Vasoactive medication management and titration parameters
- Thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy protocols
- Forensic evidence collection and mandated reporting procedures
- Clinical documentation best practices and electronic charting accuracy
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient/family teaching skills
