Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care and ventilator management for patients of all ages and acuity levels
- Perform respiratory diagnostic procedures and interpret results to guide care
- Manage neonatal and pediatric respiratory needs with evidence-based practice and compassion
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts when needed
- Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, equipment and follow-up needs
- Maintain equipment, follow infection control protocols and adhere to departmental policies
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — RRT required; CRT not accepted
- Valid Colorado Registered Respiratory Therapist license (DORA-RT) in good standing
- Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP — all required
- Proven critical care and ventilator management experience
- Neonatal and pediatric respiratory experience required
- Proof of flu vaccination required
- Willingness to work night shifts and provide care across all ages and acuity levels
- Active resume and skill sheet for submission
Education
- Completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy program as required for licensure
- RRT credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Critical care respiratory assessment and treatment
- Neonatal and pediatric respiratory modalities and protocols
- Respiratory diagnostic procedures (ABGs, PFTs, airway management)
- Familiarity with EMR documentation and accurate charting
- Strong communication, teamwork and patient/family education skills
- Ability to respond quickly in emergencies and work under pressure
